The main reason A Traveling Teacher was formed was to fulfill a life long dream. It quickly pivoted into fulfilling much more than just one, allowing teachers all over to fulfill dreams of their own. When we came across Laurel Springs School, and the way in which they help students to reach their own dreams with their online learning platform, we realized just what we had to do.
Where This All Began
Shortly after forming the tutoring portion of A Traveling Teacher, a parent reached out with a situation I had never been involved in before. She mentioned her son was a rising baseball star and was enrolled in an online school due to his crazy schedule. I was intrigued and felt as though this was a student who was taking a big risk to fulfill his dreams: I had to see this for myself. Ayden and I worked together for the next 9 months, and I quickly realized just what kind of amazing opportunity online schooling can offer to students all around the world.
As time went on, we continued to work on his math goals. The whole time, we were using Laurel Springs School’s accredited private online school as the framework for his success. While we worked through the material, Ayden and I were able to fill any gaps that were in his math understanding, and finish up both semesters of his 8th grade career. Ayden’s mother felt as though we had a good thing going and asked if another one of our teachers could assist him with his English and History as well.
Why I Reached Out To Laurel Springs
After working with Ayden for some months, I decided to look a bit deeper into Laurel Springs and all they have to offer. I found in their blog something I couldn’t have even imagined. Having been a former public school teacher myself, I have seen the inner workings of curriculum design and implementation: a difficult task if not handled properly. On top of that, the fact it is used mainly for students who are pursuing dreams that don’t allow them to be in a classroom 7 hours a day? Amazing.
