Why Is Summer Tutoring Important?

With summer time approaching, there are many thoughts on whether or not tutoring is appropriate. Some people believe it is a good time for students to take a break, and others believe it is time to catch up on missed concepts (and neither are wrong!). My experiences this year after speaking with hundreds of parents has been this: students have been affected by the last few years academically, and the gaps have risen to a point that can make or break a child’s foundational understanding.

For example, students in pre-calculus are struggling with basic algebra 1 concepts. 8th graders in English are struggling with the parts of a sentence they were supposed to have learned back in 6th grade. This is through no fault of their own, by the way. This is something I have observed time and time again this year. The solution has been to find, as the tutor, the gaps of knowledge each student has individually and bridge those gaps while moving forward with the curriculum. This takes time and patience.

What if this summer, your student spent one or two hours per week whenever they have down time to build a truly solid foundation for next year. Would this help them? My experience shows it helps more than just academically. As I have mentioned in a previous post, when students feel well prepared for what is coming their way academically, their happiness returns in a much more prominent way. I have seen big sighs of relief from all my students when they have understood the gaps they had, and more importantly, filled them.

I am able to help your student with any subject they need, and in any grade. My 8 years teaching experience gives me the understanding of how to best serve each student’s needs individually. The best part is, private one-on-one tutoring allows the entire session to be tailored to each student’s exact needs.

Let’s make this summer a time where we can bring our students back up to speed, increase their personal confidence, and have them feeling prepared and excited for next school year. I am very passionate about keeping students feeling excited about what life is going to bring them next. The best way I have found to help them with this is through teaching them academics in a fun, engaging, and interesting way.

Let’s fix the way people learn, and do it in a more individualized approach. One size fits all doesn’t work, and it never has.

I would love to discuss the strengths, needs, and goals you have for your child in a Free 15 minute tutoring consultation.
